Dracula Jackson is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Sean Jackson.
Writing, arranging, recording and performing drums, piano, acoustic and electric guitars, bass and synthesizers with his vocals, Jackson records out of his ever-changing in-home studio, “Butcher Room Studios”. Jackson is inspired by classics like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Rush, while infusing lush guitar sounds, similar to Coldplay, The Church, Lush, and U2. Compared to Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, and sometimes Nirvana, Dracula Jackson has recorded over 7 studio records and began releasing his work under his moniker in 2021.
Jackson began playing music at the age of 4, taking classical piano theory for 7 years. Growing tired of the strictures of classical theory, he quit piano lessons and wrote his first song on the same day. At age 12, Jackson was gifted a used drum set, and spent the next 6 months playing along with his favorite albums and studying and emulating the nuances of the drumming styles of Stewart Copeland, John Bonham and Neil Peart (kind of.) Throughout his high school years, Jackson moved from the Drum set to the front of the stage, buying a Korg synthesizer, learning the bass and finally the guitar. Playing his first live show at age 15, Jackson became addicted to the thrill of performing live music. At age 16, Jackson was able to realize the ambition of imitating another of his idols – Prince. Having read the liner notes to 1999, and seeing all instruments and vocals performed by one man, Prince, Jackson was insistent on doing the same thing. By the age of 18, he had recorded 2 full length albums of original music using a 4 track Tascam ministudio, playing drums, bass, guitar, piano, synthesizer, and vocals. Playing with and fronting several iterations of what would ultimately become his solo project, Jackson learned his chops as a live and studio musician. Jackson’s current offerings combine his formative influences with modern rock sounds, and result in a large, dynamic, emotional train-ride through his artistic vision.
In addition to this project, Jackson is the other half of Lily and the Pearl, an alterative folk rock group based out of Maryland. His wife Laura Brino is the other half of the duo.
